John DiBiaso is a legend in the state of Massachusetts with 40 seasons coaching high school football.

This past season, he claimed his 14th state championship when Catholic Memorial beat King Philip in Gillette Stadium this past December.

Boubacar Traore‍ was one of the key pieces to that championship squad and after announcing his commitment to Notre Dame on Wednesday evening, the Irish are hoping the 2023 Massachusetts defensive end will be a key piece to one of a future championship squad in South Bend.

“He's a great kid, a great, great kid,” Dibiaso says.

Traore made an early commitment to Boston College, but reopened his recruiting process last month to give himself the chance to evaluate all of his options.

Notre Dame made it clear even before he decommitted from the Eagles that it was an option and during a visit this week, he let it be known it was an option he wanted to take.

DiBiaso says the Irish are getting a great player in addition to a great kid.

“He's very athletic for a 6-4, 245-pound guy,” the coach says. “He can run, he can jump. He can do a lot of things and he's a fantastic leader.

“He was the captain of our team as a junior. He'll be captain as a senior. That's very rare to have a two-year captain.”

DiBiaso says Traore has the athleticism to play tight end, but it’s obvious the Irish are looking at him as a defender.

“He's got great hands,” the coach says. “He's just a great football player and more importantly, he's a wonderful young man.”

DiBiaso refers to Traore as “a role model.”

“The younger kids look up to him and he does everything the right way. He works out hard during the season, the offseason. He's well-respected by his teammates and his teachers and he's very respectful to adults. He's the total package.”
