BREAKING: Notre Dame Flips 2017 Kicker
Notre Dame has landed one of the top kickers in the country in 2017 South Mecklenburg (N.C.) star Jon Doerer, who was previously committed to Maryland.
The 6-foot-3, 188-pounder visited over the weekend on an official visit and shortly flipped his pledge to the Irish.
According to Kohl’s Kicking, the North Carolina native’s kicking is actually ahead of his punting, which is somewhat uncommon. In May of 2016, Doerer kicked an 86-yard kickoff with 4.4 hang time.
Notre Dame could absolutely use Doerer’s ability on kickoffs, as Justin Yoon is battling through injury.
Doerer chose the Irish over Maryland and Army.
