2024 DB Corian Gipson Planning Summer Stop at Notre Dame

May 12, 2022

Spring football has started in Texas, but 2024 Lancaster (Texas) defensive back Corian Gipson‍ has some business to take care of before he returns to the field.

The 6-foot, 170-pounder is looking for some hardware on the track as he’ll compete in the Texas State Finals this weekend.

"We started, but I'm not in spring ball yet,” Gipson told ISD. “I'm in track and we have State this week in 4x100, 4x200 and the 4x400. I'll get back into football when State is over with, so I'll start football on Monday."

On the recruiting front, Notre Dame is a program that offered the four-star prospect in March and has remained in steady communication with the Lancaster star.

Safeties coach Chris O’Leary and director of recruiting Chad Bowden have led the charge and Gipson looks forward to his conversations with both staffers.

"I've talked with Coach Bowden and Coach O'Leary,” stated Gipson. “Coach Bowden is full of energy and a good man. When he's full of energy, it makes me keep conversating with him. He asks me about everything and not just about sports. We talk about school and stuff like that.

"Coach O'Leary is full of energy too."

The next step in Gipson’s recruitment will be summer visits and while he hasn’t locked a visit in, Notre Dame is a school he expects to hit this in the coming weeks.

"I'm planning on getting up to Notre Dame for camp or a visit this summer,” Gipson said. “I'm trying to visit LSU, Ohio State and Alabama."

Gipson is just starting his recruiting process, but he also knows education will play a significant part in his decision.

"I'm looking for academics,” said Gipson. “Football doesn't last forever, so you have to know what you want to do after football. I'm looking at how the schools can benefit me after football is done."
