Notre Dame defensive coordinator Al Golden made a stop at Glenville High School (Ohio) earlier this week and it was to offer 2024 cornerback Bryce West‍.

The 5-foot-11, 177-pounder knew the offer was likely coming at some point, but it didn’t change West’s excitement when he got the news.

"It was a great feeling because Notre Dame is my dad's favorite team,” West told ISD. “I had gone out to Notre Dame game last year and they're an exciting team to watch."

West doesn’t exactly know how his father became a Notre Dame, but he knows there is one game on the TV in the house on Saturdays in the fall.

“Whenever it's college football season, Notre Dame is probably the only game he watches,” laughed West. “He loves the Fighting Irish. When I posted the offer, he was basically screaming in the comments."

The four-star prospect was in South Bend last fall when Notre Dame hosted Cincinnati. Despite the result, West was impressed with the Notre Dame program and what he experienced during his time on campus.

"The fans and stadium are nice,” explained West. “The stadium is really nice. The fans were high energy and the players were high energy. I was excited to watch the coaches coach too."

West will now look forward to building a deeper relationship with Notre Dame’s staff as relationships will be a significant piece of his recruitment.

"I'm hoping to get closer with them and talk with them every day to get more comfortable,” West explained. “I want to get my family down there too. I want to make sure I have good relationships because coaches will tell you they are there for you, but then they'll leave."

The Glenville star doesn’t have his summer visit schedule set, but Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Penn State and Virginia Tech are programs he’ll be looking to visit.

And when on his visits, West will be paying close attention to several aspects of each program.

"I want to go to a school with great academics and will take me seriously,” West stated. “I want to get on the field early as a freshman and not a school that makes you wait so many years to get on the field.

"I'm looking for a close relationship with the staff and that plays a big part in my recruitment.

West also made it clear he’s open to every program that offers despite the pipeline Glenville has established to Ohio State.

"I'm definitely open,” said West. “In my recruitment, I'm very open-minded."
