Notre Dame head football coach Marcus Freeman has spoken about the process of hiring his staff many times since the winter and he did once again in Chicago on Thursday night at the Rockne Gala. 

Freeman’s approach was focused on player development and recruiting across the board, but when it became clear Al Golden was his top target on defense, it was met with some questions from the Notre Dame fanbase.
