WHAT TO WATCH 

- Miami and Notre Dame enter the weekend as division leaders. The Irish (.625) hold a slim percentage lead over Louisville (.611) in the Atlantic Division and still have an opportunity to win the league outright. The Irish trail the Hurricanes (.667) and Hokies (.640) in the overall league standings.

- Pitching is a strong suit for both programs as Miami and Notre Dame rank in the top five of the ACC in ERA, opponent batting average, strikeouts per game and walks allowed. 

- Link Jarrett didn't push his starters last weekend as John Michael Bertrand and Austin Temple could have gone deeper into the game, but Notre Dame went with the bullpen on Friday and Saturday. Miami’s Friday game with Florida State was postponed until Saturday and the Canes still rolled ace Carson Palmquist out on the mound. It will be interesting to see if he’s at the top of his game after starting a day later and then pitching a day earlier than normal as the series starts on Thursday. 

- The Irish bats got going on Tuesday as Notre Dame run-ruled Northwestern 14-4. Jarrett would love to see that production this weekend. Notre Dame has been fine wrecking teams with singles, but against the nation’s beset, the Irish will need to get some extra-base hits too. 

- With reliever Ryan McLinksey out for the year, Jarrett will be counting on sophomore RHP Matt Bedford, who became eligible last week. Jarrett has got Bedford on the mound frequently over the last week as the Staten Island native has made three appearances. Bedford has pitched 4.1 innings and struck out seven so far while giving up three runs.
