QB Dante Moore: Quiet and Cool

Dante Moore‍ hasn't changed.

The Martin Luther King (Mich.) composite five-star quarterback holds 40 offers from the nation's top programs, yet Moore is still as humble as when he got his first offer from Michigan in seventh grade.

"He's quiet," stated Moore's father, Otha. "He's not flashy. Dante lets the performance speak for himself. He's quiet, but cool."

Joe Cool. Joe Montana. Joe Burrow. Calm, cool and collected.

Dante Moore fits into that group if you talk to those who have played with him.

"Dante has that smooth walk to him," stated top 2024 Grayson (Ga.) receiver Joseph Stone Jr.‍, who played 7-on-7 with Moore. "That's what is needed in a quarterback - like Joe Burrow. When you walk differently, your team is always going to follow differently.

"He has that walk where you always know. You love that."

And yes, Moore has always been a leader on the field dating back to little league.

"He would run around and buckle chins straps and tie shoe strings," laughed Mr. Moore. "He'd tell the kids what to do. He's always been a general out there."

Faith is another significant piece of the 6-foot-2, 195-pounder's daily life.

Moore has a picture of the cross as his Twitter photo and hasn't been afraid to speak or show his faith in social settings.

"He's put God first and stayed in his corner," explained Mr. Moore. "Dante has always followed that lead. He's not shy about it. He prays before every meal and every game. He treats people how he would want to be treated."

The strong foundation Moore has built and surrounded himself with hasn't let him fall into the traps of a high-profile recruitment.

It'd be easy to get caught up in the hype, but that’s not Moore. In fact, it’s quite the opposite as Moore continues to be self-sufficient while simply enjoying life.

"He had to grow up fast," Mr. Moore stated. "He matured early, so he was washing his clothes and doing his own laundry since the third grade.

"It has helped him with what's transpired. My daughter goes to college and she sees how some kids can't even wash their own clothes. He's just very mature for his age."

That maturity has also led to a drive to be the best in everything he does. Moore is not only one of the nation's premier quarterbacks, but he finished his fall semester with a 4.0 GPA.

Moore's drive to be elite in all aspects of life starts with two superstars as he's taken pieces from each from afar.

"He just wants to get better," Mr. Moore said. "He realizes there is always work to do. Tom Brady and LeBron James are two of his favorite athletes and that's all they speak on. They focus on getting better and even when it's good, there is more work to do.

"Lebron James - Everyone wants to say negative things about him, but there has been no negative off the court. He's always stayed strong and been a family man - no one talks about that."

And just like James, Moore has made an effort to give back to his community and doesn't plan to stop any time soon.

"He's humble," said Mr. Moore. "He's always trying to help others. Dante is always trying to find ways to give back. He does community service and works with the little kids in the park after his workouts because they look up to him.

"He does service for the elderly around the city and neighborhood. He just loves helping people."
