2024 Lipscomb Academy (Tenn.) linebacker Edwin Spillman‍ is quickly becoming one of the coveted at his position in the class and his offseason has focused on taking his game to the next level.

"Offseason has been great,” Spillman told ISD. “I've really been doing the same things just working out for football."

The 6-foot-2, 221-pounder did the camp circuit, including the Ray Lewis Camp in Geneva, Ohio). The camp features just 70 prospects led by the NFL Hall of Famer.

"It was a really cool experience getting to meet Ray Lewis because he's one of my idols and one of the greatest linebackers to play," explained Spillman. "Learning from him and seeing how he viewed the game was really cool. I'm thankful I got to witness and experience it."

The camp was a unique experience as it had two days of instruction that involved on and off the field work. It was the Elite 11 for defensive players, which Spillman greatly appreciated.

"We were there for two days," stated Spillman. "We had different classes and notebooks to take notes, so it was a really cool camp. It was one of the more different camps I've ever been to.

"I definitely learned a whole lot more compared to all the other camps I've been to when it comes to football and life without football. We learned how to function as a normal human being and stuff like that too."

Notre Dame offered the Tennessee native in March and the Irish staff plans to dial it up with Spillman in the coming weeks.

"They have sent me a couple invites for camp and to visit," said Spillman. "Notre Dame definitely is one of the schools I have interest in."

Spillman could return to South Bend this summer as he's starting to plan out his June schedule with his family. One stop will likely be in Knoxville as Spillman's older brother, Nate, is a 2023 Tennessee receiver commit.

I'm going to plan out my camp schedule with my parents later this week," Spillman stated. "The schools recruiting pretty hard right now are Tennesee, Ohio State, Michigan and Clemson."

When it comes to position, Spillman projects as a Will at the next level as teams covet his athleticism and ability to run.

"The Will linebacker position is where most programs see me," Spillman said. "I'm able to cover and get on the edge to rush."

It's early, but Spillman has seen some of the nation's top programs and already knows what he wants in a future school.

"I'm looking for a school I can come and make an impact on early as a freshman and earn some playing time," said Spillman. "I want to go to a place where it will help me become a better football player and human being. I want to find a place to use it to my advantage to learn and build my education too."
