- The positive news is Notre Dame won’t have to face the Big 12 pitcher of the year in Texas Tech pitcher Brandon Birdsell. The bad news is the Irish will face Andrew Morris, who has been the Red Raiders Friday starter for the entire year. Quite the 1-2 punch. 

- Texas Tech is 31-2 when holding its opponent to five runs or less and 28-0 when the Red Raiders have more hits than its opponent. Another interesting stat is Texas Tech is 31-2 when leading after six innings. 

- It’s worth noting Texas Tech has scored six or more runs in 39 games this season and the Red Raiders are 33-6 in those games. 

- The Texas Tech offense has scored in double-digits 19 times this year and is 18-1 in those games. 

- The Red Raiders are led by sophomore second baseman Jace Jung, who is batting .340 with 14 home runs, 56 RBI and 58 walks, which is No. 5 in the country.
