2025 San Juan Hills (Calif.) edge Weston Port‍ spent the week in the Midwest visiting Michigan, Ohio State and stopped by Notre Dame on Saturday.

Port had been looking forward to the trip to Notre Dame and the staff made time for him despite having several official visitors on campus.

“Seeing the campus and meeting all the coaches,” Port told ISD of one of the highlights of the visit. “All the coaches were super cool and it was an overall great experience.”

Defensive coordinator Al Golden and defensive line coach Al Washington were able to have conversations with the San Juan Hills star and Port left impressed.

“They seemed super interested in me and excited to start the recruiting process with me,” stated Port.

Notre Dame head football coach Marcus Freeman also made sure to get some time with the West Coast native.

“Coach Freeman is a really cool dude,” explained Port. “Super down to earth and easy to talk to. He’s great.”

Port was also impressed with Notre Dame’s campus as he took in the sights and learned about the various tradition of the university.

“The beauty of the campus and the history behind it all was crazy,” Port stated. “I wasn’t expecting it to be as cool as it was.”

As for the Midwest tour, Port had his eyes opened to the opportunities away from the West Coast.

“The Midwest is a special place as far as big-time football and academics,” Port explained. “I can definitely picture myself coming out to play college ball out there.”

And when it comes to return trip to South Bend, Port could be back this fall for a game.

“I would need to see how things go recruiting-wise going forward, but I would definitely consider coming back.”
