2024 Four-Star LB Kristopher Jones Impressed by Notre Dame
2024 Mountain View (Va.) linebacker Kristopher Jones and his family made a Midwest swing last week and Notre Dame was a much-anticipated stop.
The four-star prospect toured campus and spent plenty of time with the Notre Dame coaching staff during the trip.
“It was amazing,” Jones told ISD. “The campus was beautiful and I was able to meet the coaching staff, which was nice.
“I was able to meet Coach (Al) Golden and Coach (Marcus) Freeman. They were saying Notre Dame would be a good fit for me and that academically, Notre Dame would be a better degree than any other place I’d go to, so it would help me off the field.”
Jones had heard a lot of positive things about Freeman heading into the visit and his interactions with Notre Dame’s head coach only confirmed his thoughts.
“Coach Freeman is just an amazing guy all around, ” stated Jones. “He’s just an amazing guy, but he’s a great coach too.”
The 6-foot-2, 215-pounder was also impressed with Notre Dame’s new defensive coordinator as they were able to talk ball and Jones was a sponge.
“We watched a little bit of film,” said Jones. “He taught me about how to properly tackle in the open field as well. It’s amazing getting a mind like that to help me with my game. I’m just taking it all in right now.”
Jones also made a stop in Columbus during the trip and left with an offer from the Buckeyes.
“The day before Notre Dame, I was at Ohio State,” Jones said. “It’s amazing and I love the coaching staff there too.”
The Virginia native doesn’t have a public top group or an announcement date set, but the last few months have provided Jones the chance to see what he wants in a future school.
“I’m looking at the coaching staff and academics,” said Jones. “I’m also watching to see how they take care of their players too.”
