Cooper Flanagan‍ returned to Notre Dame for an official visit last month and the 2023 Irish tight end commit was blown away again.

“It was awesome,” Flanagan said. “I loved it.

“We just got to spend time with some of the recruits, spend time with the coaches, got to see the campus again. I just saw how beautiful Notre Dame is.”

The De La Salle High School star spent plenty of time with fellow Irish commits Joe Otting and Brenan Vernon.

“It's pretty cool just to know that we're going to have such a great future at Notre Dame,” said Flanagan. “These are going to be my friends probably for life, so it's pretty cool knowing that's going to be going on in a year.”

Flanagan also spent plenty of time with 2023 wide receiver target Jaden Greathouse and left feeling good about the Irish’s chances.

“The biggest thing I said to him was 'This is the number one recruiting clash in the nation and we're going to win a natty,’” said Flanagan.

“He's just a playmaker who can kind of do it all. He's just a mismatch for sure.”

Flanagan also had the chance to be around first-year Irish tight ends coach Gerard Parker.

“Coach Parker is great,” he said. “We've created a great connection. I'm super happy to work with him.”

The 6-foot-5, 240-pounder committed to the Irish when John McNulty was coaching tight ends, but said it was “super comforting” to have Parker come on as his replacement.

“From my experience, he's been great,” Flanagan said of Parker. “Mitch Evans was my host and he was talking about how great Coach Parker was too.”

Flanagan continues to be pursued by many of the nation’s top programs and hasn’t ruled out additional visits, but he has ruled out moving off his Irish commitment.

“It's definitely an honor, definitely a blessing, but I'm still locked in on Notre Dame, so that's not going to change.”
