LHP Jack Findlay Staying at Notre Dame
Notre Dame baseball has been on a roller coaster over the last three weeks, but the program received good news on Saturday as LHP Jack Findlay told Irish Sports Daily he will be staying with Fighting Irish after entering the Transfer Portal earlier this month.
Ashton Pollard was the first to report the news.
It’s a huge win for new coach Shawn Stiffler, who has spent less than a week on the job, as Findlay could be one of the nation’s top returning arms.
The New Jersey native had an impressive freshman regular season in 2022 and the he took his game to another level in postseason play as Findlay recorded four saves in the NCAA Tournament, which included multiple high-pressure situations.
None were more pressure-packed than his game three performance against then No. 1 Tennessee in the Super Regional. Findlay threw five scoreless innings in relief and allowed Notre Dame to advance to Omaha.
The 6-foot-3, 200-pounder finished his freshman campaign with a record of 6-2, 2.17 ERA, 54 strikeouts, 16 walks and opponents batted just .194 against him in 49.2 innings.
Findlay had entered the Transfer Portal on July 6th and he completed all the necessary steps by the July 1st deadline to be eligible to play next spring.
Notre Dame pitchers Caden Aoki, Roman Kimball, Alex Rao and Austin Temple have entered the Transfer Portal since the College World Series. Kimball has announced he will transfer to South Carolina and Caden Aoki has committed to play at USC.
