2024 Bryant (Ark.) defensive lineman TJ Lindsey‍ wasted little time making sure he got to Notre Dame. The 6-foot-4, 290-pounder was offered on June 30th and got his first look at the Irish program earlier this week during Notre Dame’s BBQ event, which didn’t disappoint.

“It was good,” Lindsey told ISD. “I loved my time at Notre Dame. I had high expectations from what I heard and they exceeded those expectations. It was a beautiful campus, great people and great energy around the program.”

Lindsey was impressed with Notre Dame defensive line coach Al Washington following a few phone conversations, but the chance to meet him face-to-face on Tuesday was eye-opening.

“I loved meeting Coach Washington,” stated Lindsey. “We definitely clicked. He’s real high energy, genuine and he tells the truth all the time. I love that type of coach and guy. We played some dodgeball and Irish ball together - we’re both competitors and we won. Nobody beat us.”

Notre Dame head coach Marcus Freeman also left quite the impression on the three-star prospect during a meeting.

“He seemed to know who I was,” explained Lindsey. “I don’t meet many head coaches when I go on these visits, but from what I saw, I loved what Coach Freeman had to say. He seemed the same way Coach Washington did. He was a little more mellow, but it wasn’t a bad thing. He was really genuine and passionate about his players.”

Freeman knowing details about Lindsey matters and it certainly made the experience at Notre Dame a memorable one for the Arkansas native.

“It does matter,” Lindsey stated. “It shows they’re seriously interested in you and want you to come to their school. It just adds to their chances.”

Lindsey had seen multiple schools in the South, so the opportunity to see a Midwest program was a new experience.

“It was a little different,” Lindsey explained. “The campus was what really set it apart. I haven't seen a campus as beautiful as Notre Dame. We also played games and I hadn’t done that before on a visit. The facilities were great and second to none.”

The day on campus also presented the chance for Lindsey to meet some of the top players in the 2024 recruiting.

Lindsey was impressed and felt he fit in with the other kids on campus as they were able to let it loose during the visit.

“I met a couple of them, but we all clicked,” Lindsey stated. “It was cool and we were all in the boat. We were there to have fun and let the recruiting process rest while we were just being us.”

How much was Lindsey impressed by Notre Dame? Well, he is already looking at dates to get back to South Bend.

“They definitely moved up my list,” said Lindsey. “I already talked to the coaches about coming back for a game. I don’t know which game, but I’ll definitely be back for a game.”
