2024 WR Shaun Boykins Enjoys "Great" Experience At Notre Dame
Despite the disappointing outcome on the field, Shaun Boykins Jr. was impressed by what he experienced as a visiting recruit at Notre Dame on Saturday.
“It was great,” the 2024 Kentucky wide receiver said afterward. “From the moment I stepped on campus, it was great.
“As soon as I walked in the door as a recruit, everyone was so friendly and helpful. When I went to take pictures for the photoshoot, it was a great environment. All of the gear was nice. I just had a really good time. The atmosphere at the game, all of the fans were great. Talking to the coaches was cool.”
The North Hardin High School standout had the chance to briefly speak with Irish head coach Marcus Freeman prior to the game.
“He was kind of in a rush, but he did ask me how my game went yesterday,” the 6-foot-1, 185-pounder said. “He’s a great guy. Everybody loves him; that’s what everybody was telling me, so I think he’s a great guy.”
Boykins, who has an early offer from Kentucky, came into the trip with high expectations, which is why he made the visit in the first place.
“It’s Notre Dame,” he said. “It’s one of the schools that has a tradition of being great. I couldn’t say no to that.”
He is looking forward to staying in touch with the coaches.
“I’ll probably start to build that relationship with the coaching staff and hopefully get up for more visits soon,” he said.
He has a few other trips on the docket in the coming weeks.
“I’m going to Indiana next week. I’m going to Louisville the week after that. I’m going to Michigan next month and then I’m going to schedule trips for West Virginia and Kentucky.”
