2023 Notre Dame RB Commit Jayden Limar Recaps Vegas Trip & More

It wasn’t a traditional college visit, but Jayden Limar‍ had fun watching Notre Dame beat BYU on Saturday night.

“It was great,” the 2023 Irish running back commit said. “I enjoyed it.”

Limar made the trip from Washington to Las Vegas for the Shamrock Series Game on Saturday night. The NCAA restricts contact during off-campus games, but Limar was able to watch the game with some future teammates.

“We couldn't do much with the coaches because they were out of state, so we're not really allowed to talk to them,” Limar explained. “We just came through, a couple of us commits. We were all in the same section. We just watched the game. It was just dope seeing how they performed.”

Limar particularly enjoyed watching Irish running backs coach Deland McCullough’s group perform.

“For me, it was how they use their running backs,” Limar said of what stood out the most. “They had three backs who were going back to back. I loved seeing how much they used all of them, not just one of them. That was definitely most impressive for me.”

He also enjoyed the chance to hang out with the other commits in town.

“It was fun,” he said. “We don't get to see each other that often, so we were having a good time. It was cool.

“At the end of the day, if you guys have a bond before you get there, it's going to be that much stronger that much faster.”

Limar and McCullough remain in consistent contact.

“It's been good,” Limar said of the communication with the Irish. “I talk to McCullough a lot. I talk to Chad (Bowden). I talk to (Marcus) Freeman every once in a while, so it's good, the same good amount of contact.”

The message is also a consistent one.

“Same old, same old,” Limar explained. “'Keep doing your thing and you're going to be here sooner than you know it.'”

Limar is hoping to return to South Bend for a game this fall.

“I'm trying to make it down for Clemson, but I've got to wait to see what my high school schedule looks like,” he said.

Limar has already made visits to Washington and Arizona this fall, but pointed to family reasons for both.

“My brother is coming up in the recruitment process too, so I just said if I could get him out to some schools with me, then I kind of prefer to do that,” he said. “They were both easy trips. I've got family in both spots, so I figured I might as well make it a visit if I'm going down there anyways.”

He’s also considering a visit to Oregon.

“My sister lives up there too, so we were going to go see her in a few weeks,” he said. “I might pop through there, but that's about it.”

But he maintains his commitment to the Irish.

“I'm good with them right now. We're good.”
