The Latest | Notre Dame & 2024 DE Jaxson Jones
Jaxson Jones committed to Washington last month, but that doesn’t mean the 2024 Arizona defensive end is completely finished with the recruiting process.
Other schools will continue to recruit the 6-foot-3, 215-pounder and he’ll continue to listen.
After a couple weeks of communication, Notre Dame extended an offer to the Yuma Catholic High School standout last week. It was immediately clear Notre Dame was a school Jones would be listening to.
When asked if he was excited about the offer shortly after landing it, Jones said, “Oh man, excited isn’t the word.”
Jones told ISD that Notre Dame is a school he paid close attention to growing up, watching games with his father and dreaming of playing for a program like that.
He’s had productive conversations with Irish defensive line coach Al Washington and defensive line assistant Nick Sebastian.
Jones is planning to make a trip to South Bend during the offseason to get a better feel for the program and the people within it.
The relationships he built with the Washington staff coupled with the way the Huskies use their edge rushers helped lead to his commitment.
He’s already been to a game in Seattle this fall and will be at Arizona State next week. There’s also a good chance he’ll see the Irish in person when they travel to California at the end of the month to cap their regular season against USC.
Utah is another school that Jones has been talking to.
While he remains committed to the Huskies, he acknowledges that his recruitment remains open and he simply wants to find the best fit for him.
