2024 S Target Kaj Sanders Fired Up For Notre Dame Return

For months, Kaj Sanders‍ has only had one college visit booked and that trip finally arrives this weekend, when the 2024 New Jersey safety heads back to South Bend.

The Bergen Catholic star landed an offer from Notre Dame back in March and made his first trip to South Bend in April.

He’s had this Saturday’s Clemson game in his calendar since the summer and is looking forward to getting back.

“I'm really just hoping to see how the campus is during the game day,” Sanders told ISD.

Sanders has offers from several schools in addition to Notre Dame, including Penn State, Rutgers, Syracuse, Boston College, Duke, Georgia Tech, Pitt, Louisville, Michigan State and Nebraska among others.

He’s kept in regular communication with Irish safeties coach Chris O’Leary and other staff members.

“They're just telling me the same thing,” said Sanders. “They keep asking me how my family's doing, how my grades are doing and that they've been waiting to see me and things like that.”

The Irish jumped up Sanders’ list when they offered, but it’s that contact that has kept Notre Dame there.

“Mainly how the coaches treat me,” he said of why he’s so high on Notre Dame. “They treat me like I'm already part of the family.”

Sanders has not had the chance to speak much with former Bergen Catholic teammates and current Irish freshmen Steve Angeli and Jayden Bellamy much since the season started.

Sanders’ high school season and multiple Saturday afternoon games have also prevented him from hitting the road at all this fall.

He doesn’t have any other visits planned beyond this weekend either, but said he “definitely” wants to get to Wisconsin and Penn State soon.

“I've been to Penn State last year,” he said. “It was good.”

Sanders isn’t in a rush to make a final decision and doesn’t expect to have one for several months.

“Probably the start of my senior year.”
