Ask Aneyas Williams‍ why he’s got so much interest in Notre Dame and the elite 2024 Missouri running back won’t hesitate.

“Coach D, Coach Deland,” Williams says, referring to Irish running backs coach Deland McCullough.

“I just know he's a good guy. He's in on me fully. I think his resume speaks for itself too, obviously. And what he is doing with his players this year is crazy too. We've always clicked since I went up there the first time.”

Williams made his first visit to South Bend for Irish Invasion back in June, when he picked up his Notre Dame offer, and returned for the BBQ a month later.

He’ll be back again for Saturday night’s primetime game against Clemson.

“I haven't been to a game yet, so I've got to see what the game atmosphere is like,” he said. “It's going to be a good one.”

In addition to watching the game, Williams believes he’ll be able to have a full picture of what Notre Dame can offer him after this weekend.

“Honestly, I think all the questions that I would have will be answered good or bad at the game; the fan base, how the players interact with each other,” he explained. “Obviously, I'll get to interact with the team and just see how everybody is, which I'm really looking forward to.

“I know it's going to be a big recruiting game, so it'll be nice to see who all's coming in and all that stuff.”

The Irish are expected to host several current commits, including top 2024 offensive skill guys like CJ Carr, Cam Williams and Jack Larsen.

“That's obviously a big thing that people look at just coming in,” said Williams. “I mean, the better the players, the more you want to go.”

Being at the top of Notre Dame’s 2024 recruiting board “means everything” to Williams.

“Obviously, that's what every running back wants to hear, but to know that it's true makes it that much better,” he said. “Obviously, Notre Dame has to sit somewhere higher for me for that reason.”

Williams was in Columbus for Ohio State’s opener against Notre Dame and made a couple trips to Missouri.

“They're just an hour or two away,” he said of the Mizzou trips. “It's just real easy.”

He believes he’ll be at Tennessee for the Volunteers’ home game against the Tigers next weekend.

But his current focus is on Notre Dame-Clemson.

“I'm really looking forward to this one,” he said. "

Williams’ offer sheet includes schools like Notre Dame, Ohio State, Alabama, Tennessee, Auburn, Florida, Penn State and Oregon among others.

He’d love to take several more visits in the coming weeks and months.

“Honestly as crazy as it sounds, I'd really like to see just about all of my offers because I feel like I'd be cutting myself short if I didn't,” he said before acknowledging that take a couple dozen visits is probably out of the question.

“It's definitely an outrageous number, which obviously I'm going to have to cut down.”

He expects to do that soon.

“I don't know when, but I'm definitely thinking here soon because obviously there's no reason to just lead schools on.”
