By the time Kristopher Jones‍ completed his visit to Notre Dame this summer, the elite 2024 Virginia linebacker knew he wanted to return.

“Just the environment,” the 6-foot-2, 220-pounder told Irish Sports Daily. “The coaching staff treated me well and I just wanted to get back up to see.”

So, the Mountain View High School star will be back for the Irish’s game against Clemson this weekend.

“I want to get a good look at the defense and how they play their middle linebackers,” he said.

“I just want to show how versatile I am and just see how they move around; if some linebackers are on the edge and they still play the traditional middle, so just see how they move around.”

Jones got to see and learn plenty during his previous trip to South Bend, so the game and the atmosphere around it will be the focus of this visit.

Since the last trip, he’s kept in regular contact with Irish defensive coordinator Al Golden and defensive graduate assistant James Laurinaitis.

“They're just great, great people,” he said. “At the end of the day, they support me in what I do.”

He’s taken multiple trips already this fall and has one more planned later this month.

“I've been to (Virginia) Tech, UVA, Maryland, Michigan, Penn State and Florida so far,” he said. “I'm going to Ohio State to see them play Michigan.”

He doesn’t have a timetable for a decision, but does have an idea of what will be most important to him when he does make one.

“Just the program, if it fits me, if they have my major and stuff like that,” said Jones, who plans to major in Kinesiology.
