Top 2024 RB Aneyas Williams Sees Notre Dame "Drop The Mic"
Deland McCullough has been telling Aneyas Williams all about how he uses his running backs.
On Saturday night, the Notre Dame running backs coach got to show the elite 2024 Missouri running back exactly what he was talking about as the Irish rushing attack paved the way for a dominant win over #4 Clemson with Williams in attendance.
“It was kind of like a mic job tonight,” said Williams, who was in South Bend twice over the summer.
Much of the early part of Saturday’s visit was similar to his trip for the Irish’s BBQ in July until the gameday atmosphere kicked in.
“Obviously, that's just different,” said Williams, who has offers from Notre Dame, Ohio State, Alabama and Florida among many others.
“It was just wild. Obviously, beating #4 Clemson is huge.”
Williams said the win shows the Irish are capable of beating anybody.
In addition to McCullough, Williams spoke with several coaching staffers, including head coach Marcus Freeman.
“Obviously all the coaches were very welcoming,” he said. “I talked to just about everybody.
“(Freeman) kind of has the same message every time, but obviously it's a good one; about what Notre Dame is and what they do and then he kind of backed it up with what he did tonight.”
McCullough was able to let his on-field product speak for itself.
“He was just like, 'You see what we do,’” Williams recalled. “He just has a different approach with the way he uses his running backs and it's obviously good. Nobody's getting overworked, nobody's taking too big of a load. Everybody's fresh. I think that obviously leads to their running back success.
Williams will continue building relationships with the guys in South Bend and a fourth visit should be in the works.
“Just definitely getting to know them better and obviously spend more times with other guys outside of the coaching staff to get different perspectives on it,” he said.
“It's probably one of my top schools, so I'm obviously going to have to take an official before I do anything.”
Williams is planning to take a visit to Tennessee next week, but doesn’t have anything else planned beyond that.
