2024 LB Garrett Stover Enjoys "Unbelievable" Atmosphere At Notre Dame

Garrett Stover‍ had been looking forward to getting back to South Bend ever since he earned a scholarship offer following his performance at June’s Irish Invasion Camp.

It proved worth the wait as the 2024 Ohio linebacker returned for Notre Dame’s win over #4 Clemson on Saturday night.

“It was great,” Stover told Irish Sports Daily. “It was really good. Me and my family had an awesome experience. It was a blast. We really enjoyed it.”

Stover and his family arrived and hung out in the indoor facility for a while before the game.

“There were a bunch of games and stuff and they fed us,” Stover explained. “Everything was really good. It was fun.

“We got a chance to go on the field a little early and watch the warmups.”

Stover headed to the stadium for pregame and had the chance to speak with Marcus Freeman, Al Golden, Al Washington and James Laurinaitis.

“It was really just catching up with them because the last time I was there was June 5th for the Irish Invasion Camp,” he said. “It was really good to catch up with them and good to see them.”

Stover called the atmosphere inside the stadium for the Irish’s win over the fourth-ranked Tigers “crazy.”

“Me and my family have been looking forward to this ever since we planned this gameday visit,” he said. “We were excited. The atmosphere was unbelievable, so we really enjoyed it.”

Stover acknowledged that getting a huge win helps Notre Dame’s pitch to recruits, but probably won’t be a major factor on its own.

“It can affect the recruits' decisions,” he said. “Whether you have a heck of a time, they get a good win and everything.

“I think it just shows you how capable of a team and what they can do. I think that's the biggest part, but I wouldn't say the outcome is a huge thing. I think it's more of what the people are about and how the coaches and team are.”

For the past couple of months, Stover has been focused on Notre Dame and Ohio State, which he has visited multiple times this fall. He’s hoping to have a decision before the end of the year, but isn’t necessarily in a hurry.

“Just keep connecting with the coaches. I don't think I need to rush it. I'm glad that I got up here to see this and everything this place is all about on their game days. I don't need to rush or anything, just keep talking to the coaches and keep building relationships with them and see where it goes.”
