Austin Alexander‍ made his third visit to South Bend this fall on Saturday, when the 2025 Kentucky defensive end returned to see Notre Dame beat #4 Clemson.

“It was a lot of fun getting to see them dominate Clemson up front,” the 6-foot-3, 218-pounder told Irish Sports Daily afterward. “There was just a lot of energy going through the building with the fans. It was a lot of fun.”

The Cooper High School standout has early offers from Maryland, Liberty, Akron and Eastern Kentucky.

He was at the Irish’s Lineman’s Challenge over the summer and back for the Cal game back in September.

Alexander and his father, Notre Dame alum Durran Alexander, spent time in the indoor facility on Saturday before heading over to watch the Player Walk and ultimately, the game.

“It was all excellent,” Alexander said. “After the game, going into the locker room and just seeing just the energy coursing through the players and Coach Freeman's speech after was just so energetic and crazy.

“Then we walk out after that and we get to watch all the fans come off from the field after rushing it. They were all just yelling, 'Oh, come to ND! Come to ND!' They were all hyped up. It was wild.”

Alexander called that reaction “unreal.”

“You don't get that publicity this young back in northern Kentucky,” he said. “It just makes you feel good and makes you want to be connected to this type of energy that they're really bringing.”

Alexander had the chance to speak with Freeman and defensive line coach Al Washington.

“Mainly, I got to just say what's up to Coach Freeman because he's running around trying to catch everyone and of course with 30 commits there,” said Alexander. “But I got to have more personal conversations with Coach Washington, just talking about being patient and wanting to stay in connection with him over the next few weeks.

“That's really the main part of recruiting and I felt like I've had a great connection with him, so just continuing that relationship. He said he is hopefully going to try to make it down to my school, either come catch a basketball game or come to my spring practice later on next year.”

Alexander will be at Ohio State this week and either Liberty or Maryland after that.
