2024 TE Carter Nelson Excited To Finally Get To See Notre Dame
Carter Nelson was looking forward to getting to South Bend for Notre Dame’s game against Clemson earlier this month, but weather caused his flight to get cancelled.
It became clear just how much the Irish were looking forward to hosting the 2024 Nebraska tight end when they extended a scholarship offer to him days after the game.
The two sides are set to meet in person this Saturday when the 6-foot-5, 215-pounder does make it to South Bend for the home finale against Boston College.
Nelson spoke to Notre Dame tight ends coach Gerad Parker last Tuesday.
“He said they were really disappointed I couldn’t make it,” the Ainsworth High School star said.
“I told him we were going to get to this next one and he said, ‘I’ll tell you what, I don’t want to miss this opportunity any longer.’ And then he told me.”
Nelson’s initial impressions of Parker are positive.
“He seems like a really nice guy,” he said. “I’m excited to meet him.”
Nelson already had offers from schools like Nebraska, Iowa, Kansas State, Penn State, Duke, Vanderbilt, Virginia Tech, Minnesota and Wisconsin, but the offer from the Irish certainly made an impression.
“Very excited, very blessed to have the opportunity and excited to get out to a game this weekend,” he said. “Hopefully this time, plans go accordingly.”
Nelson plays all over the field for his 8-man football squad in Nebraska,
He doesn’t have any other visits set at this point and is looking forward to learning more about Notre Dame this weekend.
“See how the coaches coach and see how they handle adversity and see how the players play together.”
