Notre Dame will hit the road for the first time this season, but it won’t be a true road game as the Irish will play St. Bonaventure in the last game of the Gotham Classic at the new UBA Arena in New York.

The Bonnies are no stranger to big games as St. Bonaventure went 5-3 last year against Power Five opponents, including 2-1 against the ACC.

This one will once again be about the Irish defense as Notre Dame’s starters are averaging in double-figures, including Nate Laszewski’s ACC-leading 19.6 ppg.

On Tuesday, Notre Dame held off Bowling Green 82-66 as the Falcons shot 43.3 percent from the floor, which might be a high, but it’s far from the 76 percent Lipscomb shot in the second half of the game before.

Notre Dame also enters the game as a single-digit favorite for the first time all season.

Friday afternoon will also be a chance for several Notre Dame players to play in their home state as JJ Starling, Cormac Ryan, Marcus Hammond and Matt Zona are from New York. Could Hammond make his debut? We’ll see as Mike Brey was hopeful it could be Friday or next week.
