2024 LB Kris Jones Enjoys Notre Dame Return, Plans To Return Again
After an unofficial visit this summer, Kristopher Jones knew he wanted to return to Notre Dame.
After returning to South Bend for the Irish’s win against Clemson last month, the 2024 Virginia linebacker says he’s planning to get back again in the future.
“It went pretty good,” the 6-foot-2, 220-pounder told Irish Sports Daily. “I got to talk with Coach (James) Laurinaitis before the game a little bit. I got see the Irish Walk.”
Jones and Laurinaitis have already established a positive relationship.
“He is just a good, good person on and off the field,” Jones said of the Irish graduate assistant and former Butkus Award winner. “Great coach, just real genuine.”
Jones was impressed with the Irish’s dominating victory over the Tigers.
“I think they played really well against Clemson,” he said. “Defensively, they did amazing.”
Jones’ offer sheet includes Notre Dame along with schools like Georgia, Florida, LSU, Auburn, Michigan, and Ohio State among several others.
Coming into the visit he was particularly interested in seeing how the Irish used their linebackers.
“They were playing fast and physical,” he said. “I liked how they were moving around.”
He called the atmosphere inside the Stadium “amazing.”
“The fans getting up, getting hype at the game,” the Mountain View High School standout said. “We were right by the student section, the students getting hyped, so it was just amazing, an amazing experience.”
What’s next for him and Notre Dame?
“Just more visits in the summertime and a little bit in the spring,” he said. “Trying to just get some more visits up there and just see what happens next.”
Last week, he visited Ohio State for the Buckeyes’ game against Michigan.
“The fans really get into the game,” he said. “We saw a couple fans crying at the end of the game. It just shows how these fans get into the college football.”
Jones says he’s hoping to have a Top 10 released by the spring.
