CB Commit Christian Gray Can't Wait To Get To Notre Dame For Good

Christian Gray‍ has been to Notre Dame a number of times now.

In fact, this last time he went, the 2023 Irish cornerback commit learned exactly how many.

“I didn't expect to visit Notre Dame 11 times,” the St. Louis said following his most recent visit for the Irish’s home finale against Boston College.

“I didn't know it was my 11th. I thought it was like my ninth or something.”

This fall, Gray made it to home games against Marshall, Stanford and Clemson in addition to BC.

“Those trips were amazing,” he said. “Man, I just love it there. I wish I was there already. Right now, I just wish I was there. I really love it at Notre Dame, the fans are all over it, the snow. I just love it there.

“The vibe from the teammates and everybody just...I really just love the place and the people and the coaching staff.”

Fortunately for Gray, he’ll be there for good soon enough as an early enrollee.

“That's crazy to even think about it,” he said. “It feels like it was yesterday me being a freshman. I know I'm going to be there pretty soon. I'm going to be very, very happy and very blessed to be up there.”

Gray believes the headstart will help him in multiple facets.

“I think I'm going to get out there and become more mature, become more mature, more responsible, learn the place more, be quick, be precise, grow more relationships with the players and the coaching staff,” he said.

“I feel like I'm going to get everything out of it that I desire and wanted, so that's a blessing from God. I know I'm going to work my butt off.”

Gray is excited that he’ll be joined in the Class of 2023 by his fellow St. Louis standout and buddy, running back Jeremiyah Love.

“Oh, it's going to feel like home now,” Gray laughed. “I'm going to talk all my stuff to J -Love.”

Gray enjoyed watching Ben Morrison play this fall, but Morrison wasn’t the only freshman cornerback he had his eye on.

“I can tell they're versatile,” he said. “Everybody on that team is athletic, can do anything they want.

“For example, when Cam Hart got injured for USC game, Jaden Mickey got in the game, started the whole way and was balling out, holding his own. I'm sitting here like, 'Dang, he, he got like everything Coach Mickens taught him and everything.' He was holding his own. He was just being great out there.”
