Aneyas Williams‍ has been a priority for Notre Dame since June and the Irish treated the 2024 Missouri running back as such, which is one reason why they just received a commitment from the high four-star prospect.

“They’ve just recruited me really well,” the Hannibal High School star told Irish Sports Daily before he made his announcement public on Friday evening.

“Their coaching staff is really good. I’ve just really enjoyed all of the relationships I’ve made with them. They’re just always known for competing at the top level and I like that.”

The academic opportunities at Notre Dame also had a major impact.

“That’s something that doesn’t get overlooked,” he said. “When you think Notre Dame, you think education for sure, so that kind of speaks for itself.”

Initially, Williams intended to hold off on a commitment until he had the opportunity to take official visits next spring. But after a pair of unofficial visits to Notre Dame in November, he knew there was no reason to wait.

“The people, the coaches, everything that was involved,” said Williams. “Everything went away when I saw what I wanted to see.”

Williams also said it was “very important” to become a cornerstone piece of the Irish’s 2024 class and help bring other top talent to South Bend.

“I’ve done my recruiting as far as that goes with other people,” he said. “Obviously, I want to be the best. I want to have the chance to play in the Championship. I feel like that’s every guy’s end goal, so just bringing in good guys.”

Williams is fired up to have the recruiting process behind him and ready to get to work.

“I’m extremely excited.”
