Notre Dame Football Early Signing Period | Running Back
Notre Dame running back recruiting hasn’t been much of a concern on Signing Day as the Irish have landed quality backs through the years.
St. Louis running back Jeremiyah Love has signed, which means Deland McCullough has landed the highest-ranked back since Cierre Wood inked with the Irish in 2009.

Recruitment Rundown
Before Love ever got offered by the Irish, his father kept asking him, ‘What about Notre Dame?’ When Deland McCullough was hired as running backs coach, he reached out and began building a relationship. By the time, Love made a summer visit to South Bend, the Irish were the clear leader. Texas A&M, Michigan, Georgia and Oregon made pitches, but Texas A&M was the true threat coming into the season.
Love visited both schools in September and while he wasn’t going to be pressured to make a decision before he was ready, he returned to South Bend in October and announced his commitment.
Still, the other schools never backed down and pursued him heavily until the final week, so securing Love’s signature is a big one for this recruiting class.

There’s some areas of his game that I want to see him develop before he can ascend to an every down weapon at Notre Dame, but there is no question that he has the potential to be an explosive option out of the backfield or as a receiver.
I can’t help but think of former Notre Dame Swiss Army knife CJ Prosise when watching him. It took some time for Prosise to find the right role. I don’t think it will take as long for Love and he could develop into a star for the Irish.
