Caleb Brewer‍ got some good news just before Christmas when Harry Hiestand offered the 2024 Pennsylvania offensive lineman a scholarship last week.

“He said I fit their standards for an o-lineman physically,” Brewer said of the Notre Dame offensive line coach. “They did a a lot of research on me and they think that I fit their program.

“I was pretty excited about it. I was really excited.”

The Irish actually extended the offer to the Wyomissing High School standout on Wednesday, National Signing Day for the Class of 2024.

“It's pretty cool, man,” Brewer said of receiving the offer on a day generally reserved for prospects in a different class.

“It's exciting. It shows that I'm important to them.

The 6-foot-5, 300-pounder added an offer from Michigan a day later. He also has offers from schools like Nebraska, Tennessee and Duke among several others.

Still, the Irish certainly have his attention.

“They're top-tier academics and they're obviously top-tier football too,” he said.

He’s hoping to get to South Bend soon.

“I don't have anything set in stone yet, but I'm definitely going to visit,” Brewer said. “That's pretty much all I have so far.

“I want to meet all the coaches and see the campus, but more importantly, the coaches.”

He’s already made visits to Rutgers, Penn State, Maryland and Syracuse, but right now is concentrating on his wrestling season.

“I think I'm going to visit a lot of colleges in the spring,” he said. “I'm going to visit a bunch of them, see which ones I like, which coaches I like. Then, I'm going to cut my list down and figure out where I'm going for official visits.”
