2024 Notre Dame OL Commit Peter Jones Excited About Future Of Class

December 26, 2022

With the Early Signing Period for the Class of 2023 complete, Peter Jones‍ knows the focus has shifted to the Class of 2024 in a major way.

The 2024 Pennsylvania offensive lineman committed to Notre Dame back in August and is looking forward to seeing the group grow in the coming months.

“You're going to see a lot of new people coming in, new interests,” Jones told Irish Sports Daily. “I know already just talking to the guys, we're all really excited.”

Jones and the other current commits were fired up about adding Missouri running back Aneyas Williams to the mix earlier this month.

“That was awesome,” the 6-foot-5, 290-pounder said. “We're all really excited for him. Obviously, he's super pumped up too.

“I think it'll be nice to be able to congratulate him in person.”

Jones will have that chance next month, when he and a host of other 2024 Irish recruits are set to convene in South Bend.

“I think we have everyone – if not, almost everyone – confirmed for the Junior Day on the 14th,” he said. “That's really going to be nice to have us all up there together. I think there's a lot of talk around our class right now and I really think a lot of guys are going to start to buy into it.

“I think it's going to be great to see how all of our different personalities mix. Obviously, some people are more of the jokesters and more people are more serious. Seeing who's going to be our class leaders going into it, who's going to be the people to rely on, the people who are going to really basically be our class leader.

“I haven't been on campus with everyone before, so this will just be a big time for me to really meet everyone in person and build on those relationships.”

Irish offensive line coach Harry Hiestand made a pair of stops at Malvern Prep earlier this month to check in on Jones.

“That was really nice,” Jones said of Hiestand’s visits.

In-person contact is limited right now between college coaches and 2024 prospects, but Jones and Hiestand have kept plenty over the phone.

“We had a season rundown from him about their season, my season. Just really catching up. I've had conversations with him throughout the whole fall.”
