Notre Dame Firmly In Race For Top S/LB Tylen Singleton

Notre Dame got in on Tylen Singleton‍ early and it’s paying dividends as the top 2024 Louisiana defender consistently lists the Irish among his top choices.

“I've been talking to them for probably about a year now,” the Many High School star told Irish Sports Daily. “I've been talking to them for a long time. I have a great relationship with the whole coaching staff, Coach (Brian) Mason, all of the coaches. I just always talk to them and Coach Mason already came to my school and seen me a couple times. It's just a good relationship we've got.

Notre Dame offers Singleton the opportunity to pursue his goals on and off the field.

“My main focus right now in going to college is the education and Notre Dame is a great college to go to and graduate from,” he said. “The position they want me to play is the position that I really like.”

The 6-foot-1, 200-pounder sees himself playing the safety/linebacker hybrid Rover role.

“My next step is going to see them,” Singleton said. “They're my number one school I want to go see.”

Singleton, who visited Texas A&M over the weekend, has a good idea of what he’ll be looking for when he gets to South Bend.

“I really want to see the atmosphere of the college and how they run everything, talking to the whole coaching staff, how the defensive coordinator runs his defense and the head coach and the school and just basically everything,” he said.

He has some other trips on his mind as well.

“I want to go visit Miami,” he said. “I've been talking to Miami a lot. I really like them. I already went and visited TCU. I'm probably going to go back and visit them again. I like Tennessee. I've been talking to Tennessee a little bit. I talk to Florida State a little bit and that's usually about it. Mississippi, I like Mississippi. I'll go visit them again and there's just a couple more.”

He’s in no rush to make a decision.

“I'm probably going to narrow my list toward the end of my school year and then take my officials during the summer, and I'll probably commit at the end of the next summer.”
