Notre Dame has landed its sixth commitment in the 2025 recruiting class as Grand Blanc (Mich.) RHP Chris Worley has committed to the Fighting Irish.

It was an easy decision for the 6-foot, 185-pounder as Worley always had his eye on the Notre Dame program.

“It was the culture and it was a family atmosphere,” Worley told ISD. “The coaches treated me like family. I went to a camp in early December and saw the campus. It was beautiful. I thought it looked like something from Harry Potter. It’s a good community. All the coaches and guys are nice and the facilities are really nice.

“It’s a big Catholic school and I pride myself in being a Catholic. Those were all big pros in going there. Ever since I went to that camp, I was waiting for an offer because I knew I was going to go there.”

Worley has seen his game take off over the last few months and it led to Notre Dame having serious interest in him after seeing him pitch in December.

“I had a good summer, but this offseason, I feel I progressed a good amount and more than any of my offseasons,” explained Worley. “At the end of the summer, I was 82-83 and topping 84-85. At the camp, I was 86-88 and the other day I had a bullpen and I was 86-88.5.”

Notre Dame pitching coach Seth Voltz played a significant role in landing Worley, who is the third pitching in the 2025 class. In fact, Voltz and Worley had been building a relationship since around Halloween, which gave the Michigan native a great deal of confidence in his decision.

“From the moment I talked to him, you could tell he was an intelligent guy,” Worley stated. “I’ve had multiple calls with him and he’s told me how he was at Wofford and VCU they had top 10 strikeouts per walks in the country. You could just tell he’s a smart guy and has good character.

“He was a huge part of my decision because of how he treated me and how I had a connection to him. He’s a really good guy.”

It’s also not the first time Notre Dame has dipped into the Grand Blanc roster for a commit as Irish freshman pitcher David Lally Jr. hails from the same program. In fact, Lally showed Worley the ropes last spring.

“I had never really talked to Lally,” laughed Worley. “I was on JV for Grand Blanc and towards the middle of the season, I got pulled up to varsity. Lally took me under his wing. I had never talked to him before and it showed how good of a leader he was. We’ve grown our relationship and I talked to him all the time in summer playing catch just trying to pick his brain.

“Every time he comes home from college I see him and throw with him. I didn’t get to be with him long, but it was really fun when I was with him. It was some of the best baseball I’ve ever played, so it’d be a dream come true to play with him again.”

The early commitment also means Worley can focus on developing his game and not worrying about calling coaches back or taking visits.

“It all came on me pretty fast,” said Worley. “I never stressed out about it. It’s relief and I’m very happy and fortunate with the opportunity I got with Notre Dame. I can now go out there and progress. This is when the real work starts. Notre Dame is where I want to be and now I have to prove it.”
