Film Don't Lie | Leonard Moore
Notre Dame already had Karson Hobbs committed as a cornerback in the 2024 class and they just landed a second one in Leonard Moore. I think it’s obvious that Mike Mickens had a type he was looking for this cycle.
Long is the word that comes to mind.
A legit 6’2”, Moore is a prospect that I think is underrated nationally at this time, but that is going to change. A player with his physical traits and ball skills won’t stay ranked where he is for long. I think he’s a significant addition to the class.
Height: 6’2”
Weight: 175
Projected Position: Cornerback
ISD Grade: 91 (4-star)
National Average Grade: 89.3 (3-star)
What he does best:
He’s long and plays long. Moore has the size and physicality to play press coverage and disrupt receivers with his arm length.
He shows good recognition versus the screen and perimeter run game and he’s a strong tackler as well fights through blocks.
There’s always a concern with taller corners and whether or not they have change of direction and loose hips needed to play cornerback. That isn’t an issue for Moore. His COD is very good.
You can see it here.
And here.
Probably his biggest strength is that he finds the football. His ball skills and production are outstanding.
What he needs to improve:
He needs to improve his footwork in press coverage and can be cleaner with his transitions when playing bail or off coverage.
What’s his ceiling?
A lot of ceiling depends on how fast he is, which might be the reason why his ranking doesn’t match up with the film. Speed matters at corner and if he had a verified 40 time that checked that box, I don’t see how his ranking wouldn’t shoot up significantly.
I’m a big fan of his game and the production speaks for itself. Combine that with the size and I think Notre Dame is landing a steal who could end up developing into a high-level man coverage defender. T
he player who he reminds me of physically is Akayleb Evans, a former Notre Dame transfer target who ended up being drafted in the fourth round in the NFL Draft.
