2025 QB John Gazzaniga Hopes To Stay In Touch With Notre Dame
John Gazzaniga is hard to miss, but the interest the 6-foot-7, 230-pound quarterback is receiving from colleges goes beyond his frame and big arm.
“What I hear mostly from coaches about my game is my conceptualization of the game, how I can read defenses pretty well,” the 2025 California quarterback says.
“You can find anybody with a really good arm, but it's really hard to find a someone who can read a defense.”
The Orange Lutheran signal-caller is enjoying the early stages of the recruiting process.
“It's going well,” he says. “So far, I have three offers from Arizona, Akron, and UMass.
“The Arizona offer was the most memorable one because the coach came out for one of our spring practices and then he called my offense coordinator a couple weeks later and told me that he talked it over with his coaches, so that was pretty cool.”
Gazzaniga visited Notre Dame last June.
“I loved the campus,” he says. “It's a small campus, I liked it. Awesome education, obviously and that's really important. The theological aspect was really cool.”
While in South Bend Gazzaniga said he had the chance to speak with some coaches, including head coach Marcus Freeman.
“We weren't there for too long, but when we were there, we had a couple meetings with a couple of the coaches,” he says. “It was a cool atmosphere.”
It’s a school Gazzaniga says he’d “love” to stay in contact with moving forward.
“The Midwest region of the United States and those schools are my favorite. I just like the feel. It's not like big city. It's more of a small town feel and that's what I like.”
