2024 Valley View (Ark.) linebacker Brian Huff‍ added an offer from Notre Dame in January and wasted little time setting up a visit to South Bend.

Huff will make his first trip to Notre Dame on March 25th and he’s looking forward to growing the relationships he’s already built with defensive coordinator Al Golden and defensive line coach Al Washington.

“Coach Golden and I text every day,” Huff told ISD. “I probably talk to him on the phone two to three times a week. I love Coach Golden and the amount we talk. I look forward to keep building on our relationship.”

Washington has also been in contact with Huff, including making a stop by his high school in January.

“He’s really cool,” stated Huff. “He seems like he’s really energetic. I like energetic people. I want someone I can talk to about things in life. He seems he can explain things really well and I understood everything he was saying.”

The trip to Notre Dame was one the 6-foot-3, 210-pounder wanted to make, but it was also endorsed by a good friend, who also hails from Arkansas.

“I’ve never been to Notre Dame,” said Huff. “You know TJ Lindsey? He told me it was the best place he’s ever been to and everything is different there. It was a great experience for him.

“TJ and I are pretty close. I believe it when he says it’s a good school, so I want to check it out and see it for myself.”

As for a commitment, Huff is using his spring visits to get a better feel for schools and will likely make a decision in the summer.

“Missouri and Arkansas and recruiting me pretty hard,” Huff stated. “Notre Dame is up there too. I was thinking about this summer after I take my official visits.”

Huff is also in the middle of basketball season and while he doesn’t score much, Valley View can count on him to be its enforcer.

“I’m playing basketball right now, but I still get in lifts every morning at 5:00 a.m.,” Huff said. “We’re competing for a spot to get in the State Tournament. We have a job to do.

“I really don’t score much, but the last few games, I’ve been scoring more. The last game I had 11, but overall, I’m averaging like two points a game, eight rebounds, three fouls, some steals and a block or two.”

When basketball ends, Huff will start to dial in on life on the edge as several colleges project him on the outside of the defense.

“I’d like to improve some more pass rushing moves,” explained Huff. “I think this season I might be a defensive end/outside linebacker hybrid, so I want to improve my pass rushing more.

“Most schools are saying I’ll play at outside linebacker and maybe put my hand in the dirt if I gain the weight.”

And yes, Huff would love to play more off the edge.

“That’s what I love to do,” laughed Huff. “I’ll play wherever they tell me. I just want to play.”
