It used to be that 10 commitments by the banquet was an achievement for Notre Dame. Normally that is when things were winding down and the Irish closed (or didn't close) on their top guys on the board. Things have changed quite a bit since then.
The Irish have 10 in the fold and it's over 11 months until signing day. They might be already halfway done filling up their class for 2018. I'm sure no one predicted how far along they would be, especially with so many new faces on the staff.
