2026 ATH Jalen Lott Having Early Talks With Notre Dame
It’s early in the recruitment of Jalen Lott, but certainly not too early for the 2026 Texas athlete to start checking out schools.
And not too early for Notre Dame to invite him up for a visit June 3rd.
“They came during the season and they always talked about getting me up there,” the Lovejoy High School star says of the Irish.
“Then I got a thing from one of the coaches and basically, they just wanted me to come up there and see all the players and stuff like that.”
The staff in South Bend has caught Lott’s attention.
“I really like the coaches a lot,” he says. “They're very supportive and, they just let me know what's going on and stuff like that.”
He’s looking forward to getting a feel for the atmosphere at Notre Dame and getting to see them in action.
The 6-foot, 163-pounder could play receiver or defensive back in college, but says most of his contact has been with Irish defensive coordinator Al Golden, so he’s “pretty sure” they’re looking at him at corner.
College coaches like his length and athleticism.
He has early offers from Baylor, SMU, UNLV, North Texas, Texas State and UTSA.
“It feels really good,” he says of the offers. “It definitely makes me want to push myself even harder to earn more and it just makes me push myself more.”
Lott’s father, James Lott, played cornerback at Texas in the 1980s.
“He definitely showed me how I play,” Lott says of his father. “He's always like, ‘Just be ready because it's really different once you get up to the college level and people hold you to a higher standard.’”
His father’s connection to the Longhorns won’t be a deciding factor in his decision, but he does have positive feelings about Texas.
“Just a great place. The atmosphere is great. The fans are great, the players are awesome. It's just an overall great place to be at.”
