Jake Cook‍ has already been to Notre Dame a couple times and the 2025 Ohio offensive lineman will be back again in a few weeks.

The Westerville North standout set up the trip with Irish graduate assistant Chris Watt prior to Watt taking a job with the Indianapolis Colts. Cook has since be in contact with Joe Rudolph, who has replaced Harry Hiestand as the Irish’s offensive line coach.

“Coach Watt and I were texting me before he got the Colts job about coming up for a visit,” Cook explains. “So, I decided to pick April 1st. He wanted me to come up to because they're doing some big recruiting day there.

“Once I found out, Coach Hiestand stepped down and they hired Coach Rudolph, I was kind of excited. Coach Rudolph has been recruiting me since he was at Virginia Tech. I was texting Rudolph and I'll be there on the 1st.”

Cook is looking forward to catching an Irish practice.

“I haven't seen Coach Rudolph coach yet,” he says. “I definitely want to see how he coaches the o-line and what type of o-line drills they do and how they practice.”

His early impressions of Rudolph are positive.

“He's a cool dude,” says Cook. “He's really energetic. He's an energetic coach, so I'm excited to see him coach. I've only talked to him a couple times.”

Notre Dame is clearly one of Cook’s favorite schools.

“It has everything I'm looking for in a school; good culture, academics, it's a Catholic school,” he says. “I'm Catholic, that's not a huge part in picking a school, but that's just a little side piece with Notre Dame.

“It's just a good school in general. It's definitely a top school of mine.”

The 6-foot-5, 300-pounder already has close to a dozen offers from schools like Central Michigan, Western Michigan, Marshall, Bowling Green, Ball State, Miami-Ohio, Toldeo and UMass among others.

“It's humbling,” he says. “It just makes me want to keep going, keep striving for better offers.

“Obviously, I haven't got those big ones yet that I'm hoping for, but I'm just going to keep working and keep my head down, be humble and just work hard.”

Cook, who visited Michigan over the weekend, has a few other trips lined up as well.

“I've got Ohio State on the 25th and Northwestern on the 30th. Louisville, I'm pretty sure I'm going to hit up on the 27th.”
