2025 DE Samuel Cohen Lands Notre Dame Offer
Notre Dame defensive coordinator Al Golden wasn’t able to get to Huguenot High School in Richmond, Va., to check in on Samuel Cohen when he wanted to, but the Irish were still able to establish contact with the 2025 defensive end and let him know they were offering him a scholarship.
The 6-foot-3, 235-pounder has been in communication with Golden and defensive line coach Al Washington, who eventually extended the offer.
“Coach Washington said that he likes me and he's really excited for me,” Cohen says.
And the Colombia native excited about the Irish now.
“Coach Washington sounded like a good coach,” he says. “Notre Dame is one of my top schools that I like. He's a really cool coach, real nice guy.
“I watched Notre Dame football since I was maybe 10 years old. I first came here to the United States and I started watching football. I watched Notre Dame and started liking them from a young age.”
Cohen wasn’t familiar with the sport when he arrived in the United States and it didn’t come simple at first, but he began playing right away.
“It took about two years for me to get used to it,” he says.
In addition to the Irish, he also has offers from schools like Georgia, Kentucky, Boston College and West Virginia.
Cohen is planning to camp in South Bend this June, when he’ll have the chance to meet Washington, Golden and the rest of the coaching staff.
He’s looking forward to building those relationships.
Cohen doesn’t have any trips locked in yet, but says he could be headed to West Virginia soon.
When it comes time to pick a college, he knows of one crucial factor already.
“The d-line coach. I pay attention to how they coach.”
