2025 DE Chris Burgess Talks "Amazing" Notre Dame Offer, Upcoming Trip

Chris Burgess‍ may not have announced his offer from Notre Dame until St. Patrick’s Day, but the 2025 Illinois defensive end actually learned of it about a month earlier.

“All my offers are good, but Notre Dame stood out,” he says. “It just felt amazing...I mean, it's Notre Dame."

Burgess, whose other offers include Illinois, Purdue and Louisville, has kept in steady contact with Irish defensive line coach Al Washington.

“We talk like every week, he checks up on me, making sure I'm doing well, making sure I'm staying on top of all my stuff, my grades, and working out,” he says.

“I like him a lot. He stands out as a person, he's a really good person to me.”

Burgess visited for the Stanford game last fall and will be back on campus for Saturday’s spring practice.

“I’m looking forward to seeing how the players prepare for practice on the next level,” says Burgess who expects to make additional trips down from Chicago later in the year.

“I'll be up at Notre Dame a lot. I'm looking forward to talking to all the coaches, and the staff and see if I like them.”

The Simeon High School standout also expects to check out Michigan, Cincinnati, Tennessee, and Wisconsin this spring as well.

He’ll be looking to see who wants him most when it comes to making a decision.

“How much love they show, how much they want me there and appreciate me.”
