WHAT TO WATCH

- Notre Dame got some much-needed momentum over the weekend as the Irish took the series from Louisville, who entered the trip to South Bend ranked No. 6 in the country. The Irish got it done with quality pitching and getting timely hits, which have been few and far between at times this season.

- The Irish still don’t have an every day player batting over .300, but the bats have come alive as of late as Carter Putz and Zack Prajzner have led the charge. The next step will be to do it more consistently and have a couple of big innings instead of just one. Shawn Stiffler’s team is doing enough to win, but it’s still walking a fine line of expecting to hold college teams to five runs or less.

- It’s a little surprising to see Jackson Dennies getting the start on Tuesday as he pitched 3.2 innings on Friday. Dennis delivered as he fanned four while walking two and giving up two runs on three hits. Now, Dennies isn’t going to go long on Tuesday, but it’s still a bit surprising to see him on the bump.

- Tuesday should be a good game to get the pen some quality work and that means Matt Bedford, David Lally Jr. and Sammy Cooper should get some work. Junior LHP Ryan Lynch hasn’t been used much, but the Granger (Ind.) native came up huge in game three on Sunday as he pitched 2.1 innings and gave up just two hits while striking out three. If Lynch can get on a roll, it would give Notre Dame much-needed lefty and another option out of the pen.
