Notre Dame Offer Renders 2024 LB Chris Cole "Speechless"
Chris Cole couldn’t say a ton immediately after being told he was being offered a scholarship by Notre Dame defensive coordinator Al Golden.
“I was speechless, thrilled and honored to receive an opportunity from such a prestigious program,” the 2024 Virginia linebacker told Irish Sports Daily. “A real honor to be recognized for my athletic performance and academic excellence.
“I know that ND offers a world class academic experience and the football program is one of the most elite programs in College Football. ND Has a history of having the best coaches and athletes in the game.”
The 6-foot-4, 210-pounder also has offers from schools like Georgia, Penn State, Texas A&M, Tennessee, Virginia Tech, Duke and Vanderbilt among others.
The Salem High School star camped at Notre Dame last summer after being invited by Irish Director of High School Scouting Dre Brown.
“Everyone was impressed with my performance; size and speed, so the relationship started there,” Cole explained. “The coaching staff have been following me throughout my junior season and they are impressed with how much bigger and faster I’ve got.”
Cole called the Irish coaching staff “elite.”
“Championship Culture,” he continued. “A staff that sets a standard of excellence!”
Cole is already planning to return to South Bend later this month.
“I can’t wait to get back up there so that I can check out everything I didn’t get a chance to see last summer at camp,” he said.
“I would like to see the campus, student housing and learn more about the academic opportunities. Also, I would like to see all the athletic facilities.”
He’s also made recent stops at Georgia, Tennessee, Penn State, Duke, Virginia Tech, Virginia, Maryland, West Virginia and Miami.
Cole will be looking at more than football when it comes time to choose.
“Great academics,” he said of what will be most important to him. “Great mentorship. Great development. Great network. Plan for my development. Staff stability. College experience. Lifelong connections.”
