2024 RB Darrion Dupree Arrived Excited For Notre Dame Visit
Darrion Dupree got up early on Wednesday to make the trek down from Chicago to South Bend to get a good look at Notre Dame.
Prior to the visit, the 2024 Illinois told Irish Sports Daily what he’d be looking to see.
“The practice and how fast they're going, the coaches, getting along with the coaches better and really getting a look at the dorms and stuff because I didn't get a look at that yet,” said Dupree, who had a made couple other unofficial visits to South Bend in the past.
Dupree has offers from schools like Notre Dame, Illinois, Wisconsin, Nebraska, Boston College and Vanderbilt among others.
He had a relationship with new Irish assistant Gino Guidugli dating back to Guidugli’s days at Wisconsin, but most of his recent communications have been with Notre Dame running backs coach Deland McCullough.
“It's been good,” Dupree said. “He's just been saying that I'm the dude and he's been really trying to like me down, so it should be good.”
Head coach Marcus Freeman has sent messages of encouragement as well.
As much as anything though, it’s been Notre Dame as a whole and McCullough that have garnered Dupree’s interest.
“It's just really the culture I've seen and the running backs coach,” he said. “I know he can develop me to be a better person and a bigger person.
Dupree has already been to Purdue this spring and heads to Wisconsin on Friday.
He’ll be cutting his list and ultimately making a decision soon.
“I'm probably going to start narrowing things down in a couple months. I'll commit probably in July.”
