Leonard Moore‍ got back up to Notre Dame earlier this month and he’ll the 2023 Irish cornerback commit will be back up again later this month.

The Round Rock, Texas native was especially excited to reconnect with his future position coach, Mike Mickens.

“It was great,” the 6-foot-2, 175-pounder says. “We actually sat in his office for a while and just broke down a lot of the film from the practice and the one-on-ones and the other corners, just the basics. We got deeper into it.

“You can just see how good of a coach Coach Mickens really is.”

Moore also saw that when he witnessed how well the Irish corners performed at practice that day.

“I think it's a great room,” the Round Rock High School star says. “They were locking up at practice, really. They're great players, but you can really see the effect that Coach Mickens can have on the corners room.”

And Moore continues to be impressed with Mickens beyond just his ability to develop players.

“He's a great person,” says Moore. “He's easy to talk to. He loves his family. He treats all his players like they're his own family. That's what I really like about him. You can really talk to him about anything.”

Moore also had a chance to meet fellow 2023 Notre Dame cornerback commit Karson Hobbs.

“It was nice,” he says. “He's cool. We think we're going to room together, so that should be fun.

“He's got a lot of energy. He's going to talk a lot. I'm more like the opposite side of that, so I think we go well together. I don't talk as much as he does.”

Moore was able to spend some time with head coach Marcus Freeman in his office during the visit as well.

“He was just talking about the reasons why Notre Dame is the place to be,” Moore explains. “Even though I'm already locked in to Notre Dame, I don't need to be convinced anymore, but just the things it'll do for you outside of football, but obviously you're still competing at a high level.”

Moore will be back in town for the Blue-Gold Game, where he hopes to meet even more future teammates and get a sneak peek at gameday in South Bend.

“We'll see what some of that game atmosphere is like, a little taste of it. Obviously, it's crazy.”
