2024 RB Darrion Dupree Talks Notre Dame Visit & More
Darrion Dupree was back at Notre Dame on Wednesday and the 2024 Illinois running back may not know when, but after Wednesday he will be back.
“It was good,” the Chicago native told Irish Sports Daily afterward. “I liked it a lot. It was different from the other schools I've been at. I liked the energy from the school. I had good conversations with the coaches.”
Dupree spoke with head coach Marcus Freeman, offensive coordinator Gerad Parker and running backs coach Deland McCullough.
“I would say it's different because Coach Freeman was just talking to me and was saying the school is hard,” the 5-foot-10, 180-pounder explained. “I haven't heard any other head coach actually tell me that. Their school is hard and I want to get like challenged, so that's a good thing for me to get challenged.
He also had a very positive chat with McCullough.
“He was good running three backs,” Dupree said of McCullough. “He almost had three backs run for 1,000 yards last season. His message was just saying they need me down there for real. He said I was talented.”
The Mount Carmel High School standout enjoyed the Irish’s practice even if his unit didn’t get loose often.
“It was fast and intense,” he said. “The offense really didn't show the defense what's up, but it was cool. I liked it. It was fast-paced. The offense linemen were moving and that's good.”
Dupree will visit Wisconsin on Friday, but isn’t sure what’s next beyond that.
He doesn’t expect to have a decision until the summer, but says he “most definitely” plans to take an official visit to Notre Dame.
“After seeing what I did (Wednesday), yeah.”
