Micah Shrewsberry has landed his second recruit since he took over the Notre Dame job as Northwestern transfer Julian Roper II has committed to the Fighting Irish.

The 6-foot-3 guard marks Shrewsberry’s first underclassman transfer, a rarity at Notre Dame, and that’s good news as he looks to build a depleted roster following the disastrous end to the Mike Brey era.

Roper played two seasons for Wildcats and made 15 starts in 44 career games. All 15 starts came as a freshman where he averaged 4.0 ppg, 3.4 rpb and 1.0 apg over 29 games. As a sophomore, Roper dealt with an ankle injury that lasted for most of the season as he played in just 15 games averaging 4.4 ppg, 3.7 rpg and 1.1 apg.

For his career, Roper will bring 182 career points and 70 made threes to the Irish.

The Detroit native was a three-star prospect out of high school and chose Northwestern over offers from Alabama, DePaul, Illinois, Iowa, Miami (OH), Missouri, Ohio State and Toledo.

Roper’s father played football at Grand Valley State and his mother played basketball at Central State.
