2025 WR Jerome Bettis Jr. Excited For Notre Dame Return
2025 Woodward Academy (Ga.) receiver Jerome Bettis Jr. has been to Notre Dame multiple times, including his last visit for the victory over Clemson in November.
Yet, this trip will be different for the 6-foot-2, 185-pounder as Bettis will return to campus with an offer in hand after the Irish offered him last month.
“I think it’ll be a little different,” Bettis told ISD. “Now that I have an offer, I can focus on building a connection with the coaching staff.”
Bettis has already been working on building relationships with the Notre Dame staff as he’s been in steady contact with Marcus Freeman and receivers coach Chansi Stuckey.
“I’m super excited,” said Bettis. “I’ve been in contact with Coach Stuckey and Coach Freeman a lot more. I can’t wait to get back.”
What has been the message from Notre Dame’s coaches? It starts with making sure Bettis knows he’s wanted for his talents and not because he’s the son of a Notre Dame legend and an NFL Hall of Famer.
“With my situation, they have assured me that they want me for me and not necessarily my father,” stated Bettis. “That’s been big.”
If anyone questioned his talents, Bettis made a statement over the weekend as he shined at the Rivals Camp in Atlanta over the weekend.
For Bettis, it wasn’t a surprise, but that doesn’t mean he didn’t take great pride in showing his talent.
“It was great going out there on that platform,” explained Bettis. “It was exciting knowing what I could do and I was excited to prove myself. Now people know it’s not just a name. I think I turned a lot of heads and people understand what I can do.”
Saturday’s trip to Notre Dame will be the third visit of the spring for Bettis as he’s made a couple of stops at college football blue bloods and could take a trip to the West Coast next weekend.
“This spring I’ve been to Alabama, Ohio State and I believe I might make it to Oregon’s spring game,” Bettis stated. “It’s been great and exciting to see these schools and to connect with them.”
And yes, Bettis feels getting to experience all the schools he can is an important step in his recruitment.
“It definitely helps put everything in perspective,” Bettis said. “I can see the difference in all the schools and what things prioritize.”
Bettis is also looking forward to getting back to South Bend to mix it up with Notre Dame’s players and recruits.
“I know a couple of guys from the team and I’m looking forward to seeing them during the spring game,” said Bettis. “I met a couple recruits the last time I was there, so it’ll be good to see them again.”
