BREAKING | 2024 WR Micah Gilbert Commits To Notre Dame
Micah Gilbert included Notre Dame in his Top 7 without even visiting South Bend.
And after getting to South Bend for the Blue-Gold Game, the 2024 North Carolina receiver gave his verbal pledge to Notre Dame on Tuesday afternoon.
“They stressed a lot about what the school can do for you after football even though they are a high-level program,” Gilbert told 247 Sports live following his announcement. “They can do so much for you because football ends some day. I obviously get to compete with a great coach and great people by my side. It’s a great program overall.”
The 6-foot-3, 205-pounder from Charlotte chose the Irish over offers from Duke, Michigan, North Carolina, Pitt, South Carolina and Virginia Tech.
“I just feel like they have the ability to develop me to the best of my ability,” said Gilbert. “It’s a great atmosphere and all the players love being there. It was great to be around all the players and hear what they thought from the inside of the school. I just fell in love with it.”
Gilbert joins Illinois receiver Cam Williams and Isiah Canion to give the Irish three receiver commits in the Class of 2024 and is the 14th verbal commit in the class overall.
Gilbert caught 39 passes for 486 yards and six touchdowns in seven games as a junior, while reeling in 40 catches for 534 yards and three touchdowns as a sophomore. He also averaged 15.5 ppg and 3.8 rpg as a junior on the hardwood.
He is also a cousin of former NFL Pro Bowl cornerback Darrelle Revis and current Tampa Bay Buccaneers safety Jordan Whitehead, both of whom starred at Pitt.
The Irish also landed Gilbert’s Charlotte Christian High School teammate, 2024 defensive end Bryce Young last Saturday.
