2025 DE Gus Ritchey Raves About Latest Notre Dame Trip

Once again, Gus Ritchey‍ left South Bend raving about Notre Dame.

The 2025 North Carolina defensive end was in town for this weekend’s Blue-Gold Game.

On Friday night, Ritchey and his mom had dinner with defensive line coach Al Washington and defensive line assistant Nick Sebastian. They also got to meet defensive coordinator Al Golden as well as other staff members.

"They sat down and talked to us and were really excited about me and my mom being there,” the 6-foot-3, 230-pounder said. “We really, really enjoyed the dinner. It was really nice."

Ritchey, who picked up his offer from the Irish during his trip to South Bend last month, praised the school and the coaches for treating him well on his visits.

"To be honest, they're going to be a top school on my list, no doubt,” he said. “They've treated me so well for the past two times."

Ritchey was impressed by the message from Washington and Golden, who want him to come back for a camp environment to learn more about the school and the team's approach.

They especially want to get Ritchey on the field to show him how he should expected to be coached if he were to choose Notre Dame.

"They mentioned, 'We're going to run it how a practice is run. We're going to do drills, like how we practice,’” Ritchey said. “’We want you to do get a feel of us and if this is the school that's right for you, then you do, you make your call and make your decision.'"

He is planning to take the Irish up on that offer and hopes to do so in early-June.

He has several offers from schools like North Carolina, NC State, Duke, Georgia, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Penn State, Michigan, Oregon among several others.

Ritchey could take another visit to North Carolina soon, but doesn’t have anything else planned.

He had another great experience at Notre Dame and is looking forward to returning again.

"It was really, really fun and an exciting day."
